The Armor Of God: Our Weakest Moments
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)
After 30 long, real-time years on Earth,
After three decades of experience,
After seeing the best and worst of us,
After knowing Roman occupation,
After living with idols and tyrants,
After bearing temple hypocrisy,
After His baptism by Cousin John…
The Carpenter became Jesus, THE CHRIST.
But before He began to walk it out…
'Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for 40 days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.' (Luke 4:1-2).
If you thought…
Jesus was only tempted at the end of His 40-day trial, think again. He faced trials every day of His fast. We know (and will discuss) HOW he fought Satan, but–
If you ALSO thought…
The devil didn’t bother Him again, then His Life might have been vastly simpler.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Let that dangerous misconception go. Here’s what awaited God’s perfect Son:
'When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time' (Luke 4:13).
In other words, Satan was coming back to tempt Christ again… at “opportune” times.
Because…
Jesus, the Man, felt fatigue, stress, sadness, anger, heartache, and betrayal. Such feelings make people vulnerable. If Satan tested Jesus more than once: Jesus, God’s Own Son, filled with the Spirit; Jesus, Earth’s only Man Who never sinned…
How much more will Satan keep testing us?
He waits patiently for our low moments, then, BAM! He attacks. 'You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?' (Acts 13:10).
His attacks won’t cease this side of heaven.
What's a child of God to do? Armor ON!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. This is a 2023 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
