Your Resume: In The Eyes Of God
The Eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV)
I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened.
Revelation 20:12 (NKJV)
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Matthew 10:30 (NKJV)
God sees every small detail of our lives: every step and every accomplishment, but His value system is entirely different than the values of the world.
'Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God' (James 4:4).
In the Eyes of God, a good resume… is built on acts of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and strong self-control. Your biggest credits are supporting roles--as seen by the lifting up of others.
Highlights of your heavenly resume…
Won't be how big or important you grew, but how humble and helpful you became:
Not by your followers on Instagram, but how closely you’re following Jesus,
Not by the quantity of your airtime, but the quality of your prayer time,
Not by how much money you make or give, but the measure of your generous heart.
Your best headshot will be a glimpse of Christ: the warmth of your smile, the light in your eyes, the sparkle that invites a closer look.
When you act in the Character of Christ, those who see you can't help but be intrigued.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, always remember your true Director. It's not entertainment power-players– nor 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2).
They are, quite simply, the means to God’s end: the furtherance of Christ’s ambassadors in film, fashion, music, and theatre.
Therefore…
Keep one eye on your talent resume, but more crucially--One heart in Jesus.
Because He's writing the REAL resume of your dear life at this very moment.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2014 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
