Your Resume: In The Eyes Of Men
I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.
Luke 18:12 (NKJV)
If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Philippians 3:4-6 (NKJV)
And they said to Him, 'By what authority are You doing these things?'
Mark 11:28 (NKJV)
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, your talent resume is important. It's the next checkpoint after your headshot. Every time you get a cool, new credit, you update this vital “bio” of you!
Because entertainment professionals want to know what you've done: your education, work, and special skills open doors to exciting auditions.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, your photos are even more important. These one-dimensional portraits of you show you as industry-marketable. At best, they capture your shining presence.
Is that possible? Can a snapshot capture a lovely heart?
Certainly, they can’t, but men’s superficial judgments aren’t new.
When God sent His top prophet, Samuel, to anoint a new king for Israel from Jesse’s eight sons, he was tempted to choose by surface stuff: the eldest, strongest, most accomplished son.
'But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart' ' (1 Samuel 16:7).
Other surface stuff tempts us to judge, too– like education, position, or wealth. Jesus disagreed.
'Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had' (Mark 12:43-44).
Putting in all that we have is the key: the one sacrifice that touches God's Heart.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Resumes and pics are a game you play to get on the field and rise like a star. So work to build a savvy resume and headshots that WOW casting directors.
But DO remember: It's only a game– and when the game ends, you’ve gotta GO HOME. What the world applauds… your Father does NOT.
'For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God' (1 Corinthians 3:19).
Then why should you play on this field at all?
To get into pivotal positions… so lost sheep can see you and follow you.
Who?
Lost sheep are FANS looking for a leader.
Where?
God willing… all the way home to Jesus.
Although talent headshots and resumes are destined to fade away over time…
NO MATTER! Because your witness for God writes a new and glorious resume--recorded in the annals of Heaven.
It’s this one that counts.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2014 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
