Losers: Humble People With “Common” Jobs

The common people heard Him gladly.

Mark 12:37 (NKJV)

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

People will live together in Judah and all its towns—farmers and those who move about with their flocks. I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.

Jeremiah 31:24-25 (NIV)

When people have to introduce themselves (like when they’re interviewing for a job or, perhaps, offering an opinion)...

They share their notable experience, education, and top accomplishments. Maybe they talk about their families– highlighting them as signs of “the good life.”

We’re impressed with their work and achievements… which is why most pastors have “pedigrees”: diplomas, nice clothes, big smiles, and smart words.

SIDEBAR: Many “brag” about the years they’ve been saved, which makes faith newcomers and visitors feel “less than” and “out of place” in their pews! (That happened to me and countless others!)

On the other hand,

We can “dismiss” people without “status”– as in humble people with common jobs. But our Father sees things differently.

As most Christians know, neither Jesus (nor major Bible stars) had impressive “man-given” credentials. They were fisherman, farmers, and shepherds. They were too young, too old, or too tainted… (like Mary Magdalene, who was possessed with 7 demons. Yet, she was chosen!)

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Don’t EVER look down on humble people, because God doesn’t. Most churches have adopted man’s standards on how we should judge “qualifications” to represent Jesus and lead a flock. They’re WRONG and their standards aren’t biblical!

God uses “the weak” to confound “the wise” and “the simple” to surpass “the complex.”

Equally crucial…

Don’t EVER believe what puffed-up people say about you, your dreams, or your calling. Dream haters are anathema to God. He LOVES to promote unlikely winners.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
