Images: The Image Of Jesus

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same Image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

I continue to be amazed by the Image and Lifestyle of Jesus, the Man. Why don’t we talk about them on Sundays(?)… because they’re KNOCK-US-DOWN fascinating!

God chose for His Son…

  • An unremarkable appearance,

  • Humble parents in a “nowhere” town,

  • And an ordinary occupation.

Countless well-meaning images of a handsome Savior are NOT true to Scripture.*

Since we’re called to look and walk like Jesus, what does that mean (in terms of images), to…

Actors, models, and talent for Christ?

Should you be plain, too? What if God gave you a beautiful face? Should you ignore it or USE IT FOR GOOD? Think of it this way: He gave you supernatural appeal!

'To each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: 'When He ascended on high, He took many captives and gave gifts to His people' ' (Ephesians 4:7-8).

Who are His captives?

'The powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the Cross' (Colossians 2:15).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

‘Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights…’ (James 1:17). Don’t bury or hide the gifts God gave you.

In the mission fields of entertainment, your images are oh-so-important! Consider Joseph, Esther, and Daniel– who repped God in idolatrous cultures.

The Bible describes them as attractive, and their good look was put to good purpose. It helped them rise in alien nations. During the process, each one respected the customs and rulers of foreign lands… while remaining true to their first Love: God!

By them, kings were changed and people were saved!

O, the other Hand (God’s), when Jesus said,

'No servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him' (John 13:16), let this warning temper your images.

Your image can’t become your top focus. Your fame can’t become greater than His Name.

Jesus looked exceptionally UNlike every other leading priest of His day by UNFATHOMABLE simplicity.

That same approach will make you look UNlike most other leading stars of this day, too.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
