Christian Pitfalls: Gossip

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.

Proverbs 19:8 (NIV)

A gossip goes around telling secrets, so don’t hang around with chatterers.

Proverbs 20:19 (NLT)

Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip, a quarrel dies down.

Proverbs 16:20 (NLT)

I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

2 Corinthians 12:20 (NIV)

Mean-mouthed whispers into curious ears… have harmed and killed since the fall of Adam.

Sidebar: What did Lucifer whisper to angels, spurring ⅓ to rebel against God?  The thought is almost inconceivable to us now, and, of course, it didn’t work. But…

We’re STILL dealing with the fallout today!

Vicious keystrokes seen by curious eyes… still harm and kill countless victims right now! But the scope of the character assault has MORPHED and MULTIPLIED beyond measure– in the orbits of social media, creating an airborne, anonymous lynch mob. And…

We’re STILL not doing enough to stop it!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You’re on a path to become influencers: stars for God…

’Blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world’ (Philippians 2:15).

What can and should you do about gossip…

  • Keep your words and posts clean and positive.

  • Don’t hang around with people who gossip.

  • With gentle words, defend the defenseless.

Note to self & YOU:

Underwriting all communication standards is 1 Corinthians 13! *

Christian Pitfalls: Gossip (Part 46)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
