Christian Pitfalls: Talking Heads
Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.
Jonah 2:8 (ESV)
All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know… and the craftsmen are only human.
Isaiah 44:9-11 (ESV)
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV)
The hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand…
Matthew 13:15 (NLT)
For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie…
2 Thessalonians 2:11 (NIV)
A “talking head” is “a commentator or reporter on television who addresses the camera and is viewed in close-up.” Talking heads give opinions on the news, 24/7.
Undeniably,
Many of us have become “news junkies,” but world news is eons away from Good News.
World news is bad, sad, sensational news, and we’re drawn to it– like moths to light bulbs.
World news centers on political news– stoking men’s fears, desires, and divisions.
World news includes celebrity “sightings”, as paparazzi track their every move.
Undeniably,
Some “talking heads” seem to have sold their souls to embrace the crown of celebrity. Consequentially, their devotees embrace their opinions– and mindlessly repeat them to others.
These “kings of con” have turned into idols– which God warns against… again and again.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
To succeed as Good News ambassadors and God’s appointed communicators, you must focus your attention elsewhere: namely on the True Head, Jesus Christ, Who speaks through His Word about your mission to rise and shine in fields of entertainment.
But remember:
“Talking heads” are getting rich and famous… telling YOU what to think and who to fear. But God has given you the Mind of Christ. He reveals the ONE true and helpful fear: namely, to fear God and live to please Him.
As for EVERY WORLDLY fear? God’s got it! What should YOU do? Trust Him and move forward.*

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
