Christian Pitfalls: Pride

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.

Proverbs 27:2 (ESV)

Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Matthew 23:12 (NIV)

For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Galatians 6:3 (ESV)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s Mighty Hand, that He may lift you up in due time.

1 Peter 5:6 (NIV)

Lucifer’s sin is Pitfall #1: PRIDE! It’s a deceptive pit covered by bling… found along the path called “accomplishment”.

The ability to travel this path requires TALENTS given by God Himself: GIFTS sometimes handed down through families, also WORKS by grasping glory-seekers, like…

  • Athletic prowess

  • Physical beauty

  • Physical power

  • Financial power

  • Pedigree power

  • PhD power

  • Cerebral power

  • Governing power

  • Corporate power

  • Media power

  • Superstar power

  • Persuasion power

On the other Hand (namely God’s), these gifts can and SHOULD be used for the greater good: to glorify God and uplift others! In each of these power categories, stars begin to rise.

However, the path called “accomplishment” offers those who walk it… two directions:

  • The harder path requires humility. It’s an upward climb marked by sacrifice.

  • The broader path is hard, but not AS hard. It’s a track marked by accumulation.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

You’ve been given the power to perform. “Pride” is not the name of your manager. You bow only to the Name of Jesus: Earth’s Greatest Star was its most humble Star!

Within you, lost sheep (fans) find their Shepherd, and isn’t that effort worth everything?

Christian Pitfalls: Pride (Part 66, Conclusion)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
