Christian Pitfalls: Sensual Persuasion

With persuasive words, she led him astray;
She seduced him with her smooth talk.
All at once he followed her,
Like an ox going to the slaughter…
Little knowing it will cost him his life…
Do not let your heart turn to her ways…
Many are the victims she has brought down,
Her slain are a mighty throng.
Her house is a highway to the grave,
Leading down to the chambers of death

Proverbs 7:21-27 (NIV) *

Can good men fall into sensual pits, losing their minds (or even lives) to LUST?

  • God’s strong man, Samson, did– to Delilah.

  • King David did– to bathing Bathsheba.

  • King Solomon did– to his pagan wives.

Did any refuse a tempting beauty? We can’t know all details, but Joseph did!

This seductive pit is a Siren’s call, luring the naive to a deep, dark fall. Now more than ever! And modern media is its agent!

Here’s the BIG problem:

  • When we thoughtlessly “couple” with someone… in a “leave-our-mind-behind” kind of way,

  • When reasonable judgment is tossed out, then we’re susceptible to persuasion,

  • Making bad decisions– harming ourselves, our loved ones, and our witness for Jesus.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Steer clear of sensual entanglements.** True love is sacrifice– not indulgence. Jesus loved US with an ultimate love, and He clearly told us to copy Him!

‘As I have loved you, so you must love one another’ (John 13:34).
