Ambassadors For Christ: Reputation

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.

Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)

Years ago, a lady named Nerissa applied (and got) a big job in old Shine’s administration: Head of Bookkeeping. She was born and raised in the Philippines: a culture I’d not known personally.

Yes, she was good with numbers, but also… Nerissa was extraordinarily kind, capable, generous, and joyful.

Based on her good example and lifestyle, I decided I loved Filipinos:) I judged 100+ million by one! (Was that wise? Not really, but I still did. It’s tempting to judge the many by one!)

Here’s my bigger point:

Shouldn't WE be walking billboards for Christ… based on our good examples and lifestyles?

  • 'By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another' (John 13:35).

  • ‘Put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony’ (Colossians 3:14).

  • ‘Let all that you do be done in love’ (1 Corinthians 16:14).

  • 'Now then we are ambassadors for Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:20). That's the kind of reputation we need.

Peter puts it this way:

  • 'Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us... For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people... Show proper respect to everyone' (1 Peter 2:12-17).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

DO act like Jesus! When you fail (which is inevitable)... repent, ask forgiveness, and try again. Repeat this process every living day! As the Lord promises, you’ll be transformed to look like the Person you most admire.

  • 'Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near' (Philippians 4:5).

Jesus IS judged by you, by me, by us!!

Ambassadors For Christ: Reputation (Part 5)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
