Radiance: A War Of Light
The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore, let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Romans 13:12 (NASB)
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (NIV)
For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness. For by You I can run upon a troop; And by my God, I can leap over a wall.
Psalm 112:4 (NASB)
Star Wars is a futuristic thriller. Through its epic films, we watch a war of good versus evil: brave heroes who fight an evil empire--and its Death Star, the executioner!
Person-to-person, the weapon of choice is a lightsaber, empowered by a mysterious Force. This Force has a downside and an upside: kind of like the devil versus the Lord– or demons versus followers of Christ.
We know God defeated that rebellion (in the heavenlies),
As did the Captain of our salvation (for Christians on Earth).
Earth's climactic and conclusive battle featured THE Hero, Jesus, on a Cross. The enemy thought he had the Man pinned. He thought wrong. (Pride and vengeance blinded him.)
When the stone was rolled away from His tomb, Light came forth! Victory was apparent!
But until God pulls Earth’s final curtain, His show continues. Jesus left this theatre for a time, but an awesome finale approaches. Jesus WILL return.
And In this mean-time, He's given His stand-ins supporting roles. He’s given His troops (us) MIGHTY weapons.
Consider them Lightsabers. God made them! The bad guys can IN NO WAY defeat them.
But Christ’s volunteer army must step up– and speak up, saying, 'Here I am, send me' (Isaiah 6:8). Only then will we be equipped for war. 'Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle' (Psalm 144:1).
You, actors, models, and talent for Christ, wield the power of the Lord in your hands, or more specifically, in your mouths… because your unbeatable Lightsaber is 'The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God' (Ephesians 6:17). Therefore…
Read God's Screen Play, a.k.a. the Bible. Memorize His Lines, a.k.a. Scripture.
When His purpose combines with YOUR talent, you truly become… radiant performers! Kings come to the brightness of your rising. Even more so… impressionable fans. Because Satan can’t stop God's Light Brigade.
'Praise Him all you stars of light' (Psalm 148:3)!
Radiance: A War Of Light (Part 6, Conclusion)
NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
