Field Of Dreams: Delays– Pride

They rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, 'You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?'

So when Moses heard it, he fell on his face.

Numbers 16:2-4 (NKJV)

Moses fell on his face to God--A LOT. This humble position of submission was his reaction in times of trouble.

What kinds of trouble?

  • Gripes, power plays, mutiny, and stoning (from the Jews to him during Exodus).

  • The rebukes of his brother and sister (for marrying a Cushite on the way).

His constant response? Submitting to God and asking His help.

Consider how God describes His front man: the man who parted the sea with his staff, the man who led the Jews out of Egypt, the man who wrote the Bible’s first five Books:

'Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth' (Numbers 12:3).

Years later, only one Man would top him. JESUS lived this painful truth on a Cross--that we might learn a life-making lesson:

  • 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' (Matthew 23:12).

  • 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' (Luke 14:11).

  • 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' (Luke 18:14).

  • 'When they cast you down, and you say, 'Exaltation will come!' Then He will save the humble person' (Job 22:29).

  • Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty Hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time' (1 Peter 5:6).*

In humility, God works His wonders.
In letting go, we let God take control.
In surrender, we rise in victory.

HOW?

When we empty ourselves of pride and plans, God fills us with HIS power and purpose.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: I believe you walk in humility, but… show CONFIDENCE to media kings. Find it in Christ.

WHY?

It’s required in the “puffed-up” field of dreams.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
