Field Of Dreams: Delays– Doubt
Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the Commandment of the Lord, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink. Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, 'Give us water, that we may drink.'
So Moses said to them, 'Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the Lord?'
And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, 'Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?'
Exodus 17:1-3 (NKJV)
IF 'Without faith it is impossible to please God' (Hebrews 11:6)... THEN (without a doubt) doubters don’t please God.
IF 'Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen' (Hebrews 11:1)... THEN doubters don’t substantiate their hopes.
IF 'We walk by faith, not by sight' (2 Corinthians 5:7), THEN doubters lack the blind faith God requires.
IF Jesus said, 'Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well' (Matthew 9:22), THEN doubters can’t live their best earthly lives.
In Exodus, the Jews quickly forgot their miracle-laden rescue by God. Did they think He would let them die of thirst… after parting the Red Sea to save them?
Without a doubt, doubt is deadly poison: poison that infects our faith, hopes, and dreams. Consider two questions:
Does Satan plant foul seeds of doubt in us? (I believe he does, but we have a choice.)
Do we cast doubt out, or do we nurse it? (Speaking for me, I nurse doubt too often.)
The Bible says 600,000 men (ages of 20 to 60) left Egypt. Yet all but two died! Only Joshua and Caleb made it to the Promised Land.
WHY? They chose to trust God.
THE RESULT? God chose to trust them. *
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Don’t allow doubts to cloud your destiny. Perhaps you've wondered why your path is hard. If so, re-read the four Verses below. **
Don’t give airtime to doubters or skeptics. (Their judgment is clouded by their own doubts.)
Bottom Line: The land of promises needs your presence. FANS NEED TO MEET YOU!
Millions of children aren't doubters at all. They're believers, but they believe wrong things. So get on the field and stay on the field. Lead them gently to the truth and the light!
Field Of Dreams: Delays– (Part 7)
* Moses and Aaron, famous men of faith in God, lost their lives before crossing over to the Promised Land… for reasons other than doubt.
** 'Every Commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers. And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His Commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every Word that proceeds from the Mouth of the Lord. Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you' (Deuteronomy 8:1-5).
NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
