Samson & Delilah: Star Struggles, Yours

Know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NKJV)*

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

Matthew 24:12 (NKJV)

Does love grow cold when a heart grows stony?** Aren’t these side effects and consequences (painfully detailed in Timothy 3) seen everywhere, including Hollywood?

Performers for Christ: In film, fashion, music, and theatre; in church, school, work, and social media… the world’s stages are set for YOU TO RISE: models showing acts of human kindness (as opposed to acts of human hind-ness).

Don't run from your role in this dirty show. Run to it, like David to Goliath. Because Goliath proved to be nothing but a big-mouthed thug by comparison. But if YOU stay away from the battle…

  • How can punks get their public comeuppance?

  • How can cold-hearted bullies get put down?

  • How can the audience see God at work?

  • How can God work through you, if you lay low?

'How shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!' ' (Romans 10:14-15).

Samson shows that big stars WILL make mistakes, so don’t judge strugglers–and DON’T JUDGE YOURSELF!

But DO remember, in calls to action, Samson was game! He had THE Advantage: God’s Holy Spirit! Christ gave you this same WONDROUS ADVANTAGE.

Also remember your MARCHING ORDERS: ‘In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven’ (Matthew 5:16).

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
