Busyness: Right Worker, Right Fruit
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the Earth and subdue it.'
Genesis 1:28 (NKJV)
I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing... By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples... I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My Name He may give you.
John 15:5,8,16 (NKJV)
God compares our work on Earth to farming: specifically, sowing and reaping.
'Do not be deceived. God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life' (Galatians 6:7-8).
'That we should bear fruit to God' (Romans 7:4).
'A crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty and some a hundred' (Mark 4:8).
What kind of crop? The fruit of The Spirit!
'Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control' (Galatians 5:22). Because 'Against such things, there is no law' (v.23).
When we act in the Character of God, we rise above cultural boundaries. The crop? Disciples in all nations!
Can unfruitful Christians be called disciples? I believe the answer lies in our age. Baby trees (or saints), may not bear much fruit. Nevertheless, they are cherished by God.
In the Book of Luke, the sinner on the cross next to Jesus entered Heaven as a newborn Christian. How remarkable and encouraging that salvation can come in the last hour!
But what of Christians, in church for decades, without evident spiritual fruit?
'Even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire' (Matthew 3:10).
Why might they get such a harsh penalty? Because our Father hates hypocrisy. No one should pretend to be a Christian, when he’s had time to produce fruit… but hasn’t.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, you have a new-age opportunity to bear wondrous fruit. How? Media MAGNIFIES your performance.
You are the RIGHT workers at the RIGHT time with the RIGHT talent to bear the RIGHT fruit.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
