Skeptics: The Quick-To-Judge Kind

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Matthew 7:1-5 (NKJV)

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

imagine an in-person audition or opening night of a performance– and you forget a line, miscue a scene, lose your pitch, or seem visibly nervous. You're “snakebit”... Experiencing failure!

Your blunder is painfully obvious, and the natives can’t resist a comment.

What natives?

  • Local natives (a.k.a. hometown folks): 'I knew he was too big for his britches. When the pressure is on, he loses it.' (These comments are behind your back, of course.)

  • Christian natives (a.k.a. church leaders): 'This is a sign. God wants you to give up! Entertainment is chock full of sinners.’ (These comments are directly in your face.)

  • Showbiz natives (a.k.a. VIPs): 'Thank you.... Next! Don’t take it to heart. Nice try.' (They're in a hurry. Even stars mess up.)

Now imagine yourself persevering. You brush the dust off your feet, smile again--and continue. Paul explained it like this:

  • 'Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus' (Philippians 3:13-14).

In God’s timing, you win a major role!

  • Local natives suddenly change their tune. Now they’re THRILLED: 'I love him. He's so cool! He's one of us!'

  • Christian natives (judges) are skeptical: 'Let's hope he doesn't get full of himself.’

  • Showbiz natives are sorry they missed you: 'I saw him once, but I was in a rush.’

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Fans can be fickle. Christians can be cross. VIPs can be pressed by tight schedules. Don’t allow people to dictate your fate.

  •  'Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for he knew all people' (John 2:24).

Love everyone, but trust your destiny to no one but God. Only His opinion of you matters!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a rewrite of a prior 2014 series.
