Ten Commandments For Christian Performers: #10, No Shopaholics

You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Exodus 20:17 (NASB)

Don't believe tall tales called soap operas. Don't covet money or celebrity. Don't allow advertising geniuses, who 'with feigned words make merchandise of you' (2 Peter 2:3).

Do you think you're scanning their clever ads? NO! It’s now been proven– they’re scanning YOU.

You're worth immeasurable more than that!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Raise a new standard!

  • One that values Jesus more than jingles,

  • People more than prizes or possessions:

  • A standard where the jealousy that flies…

  • Is our King’s for us. Never ours for “stuff.”

Does His standard call you to refuse jobs that sell products? Not necessarily. You enter the fields of entertainment 'As sheep in the midst of wolves...shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves' (Matthew 10:16).

But enter YOU MUST.

  • Just like Abraham, Joseph, and Moses. Just like Esther, Daniel, and Jesus.

  • As the Lord did for them, He’ll do for you. He’ll give you extra grace, wisdom, and strength.

  • Before every booking, He’ll direct you in which jobs to accept or to refuse.

You have an unusual destiny. As stars, you’re called to be famous for God. If money follows:

  • DON’T dare become examples of excess.

  • DO avoid 'All appearance of evil' (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

Instead, example generosity, humility, and service to others.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings. This series is a re-write of a prior 2011 series.
