The Armor Of God: The Footgear Of Peace

And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Ephesians 6:15 (NIV)

Clearly, we’re to 'Seek peace and pursue it' (Psalm 34:14) and, without any doubt, to 'Walk in love' (Ephesians 5:2). But Jesus takes it to a grand extreme:

  • ‘I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you' (Luke 6:27).

In the midst of war or clear injustice, seeking peace feels well-nigh impossible. But for Christians, it’s more than a feeling. It’s a duty, order, and commission.

Remembering our King’s Words on the Cross, no saint can doubt Jesus followed it first.

  • ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do’ (Luke 23:34).

Also, remember these powerful words of two men who wore the footgear of peace:

  • “Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.” (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.).

  • “We will not build a peaceful world by following a negative path. It is not enough to say ‘We must not wage war.’ It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it. We must concentrate not merely on the negative expulsion of war, but on the positive affirmation of peace.” (Ghandi).

Reminders:

  1. To sit, rest, and sleep in peace is GOOD, but…

  2. To keep your peace (through mindful words) is GOOD, but…

  3. To recharge peace through fellowship is GOOD, but…

  4. You must share your peace WALKING IN THE WORLD.

How?

If God’s power is like a pair of shoes, you consciously put it on… and go forth.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If anything I write is on point and agrees with His Word, it’s not from me. This is a 2023 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
